In spite of fears that the Foot and Mouth Disease situation might lead to the cancellation of the 2000 Annual Meeting, a final decision to go ahead was taken in conjunction with BSAS, all possible precautions were taken to avoid potential disease spread and over 100 WPSA delegates enjoyed a really excellent meeting. A new venue meant easier travelling for most people and the facilities of the magnificent campus at the University of York provided a well-balanced environment in which to stay and to meet.

Nineteen submitted papers, three invited papers and twenty five posters, covering a wide variety of topics, provided a useful and informative conference programme. A report on the proceedings of the AGM together with a short conference report are included in the following pages of this Newsletter.
