Spring 2005 Newsletter : WPSA UK Branch Annual Dinner
New Venue for the 2005 : St Williams College, York
Branch members will see in their Annual Meeting Programme that, after a number of years of fairly average University surroundings and catering, the Branch Annual Dinner is this year moving to the magnificent St Williams College and will be undertaken by professional and highly recommended caterers. The cost, including coach transfers, will therefore be higher than previously, but we know that it is sure to be an occasion not to be missed. There will also be a pay bar before and after the meal, in case you get thirsty during the journey. So book now and tell your friends!

| Nestled beneath the world-famous Minster, St Williams College was built in 1461 to house the Minster Chantry priests. King Charles I set up his printing press here when he moved his court to York in 1642 and, although it was much altered in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was rescued from decay in the 19th century and was later sold to the City Council for restoration. It is now one of York's most impressive half-timbered houses and, with its timbered halls and enclosed cobbled courtyard, the college is a stunning venue for functions. The capacity of the beautiful main hall is 150 guests. |
