Spring 2004 Newsletter : XXII World 's Poultry Congress
Istanbul, 8th - 13th June 2004
Plans are now well advanced for WPC2004 and many UK based members are expecting
to make what promises to be an interesting and exciting visit to a beautiful
city. In addition to the Scientific Program, there is a wide range of social
and cultural activities to choose from, both local visits and longer tours.
On Friday 11 June the Council of WPSA will meet to elect a President, Secretary,
Treasurer and five Vice-Presidents to serve for the next four years. The
UK Branch, by virtue of its membership size, is allowed up to eight Councillors
to vote in this election and these have now been nominated.
Closing dates for applications for the WPSA Fellowship and Youth Program
have passed and a number of UK students have been successful and will be
presenting poster papers at the Congress. The UK Branch also offered travel
assistance to two students, to help them attend the Congress and has decided
to split the award money between three UK students whose applications were
considered to be of equal merit: Michelle Lewis from Harper Adams University
College, Ros Mayne from Roslin Institute and Athanasios Pappas from SAC Auchincruive.
Congratulations to these three, whom we hope will enjoy interesting and successful
visits to Istanbul. Any members who are considering attending but who have
not yet registered are reminded that the deadline for cheaper registration
(the date for the cheapest having already passed) is 15th April.
