Autumn 2006 Newsletter : Branch Annual General Meeting
The Annual Meeting and AGM are important events in the life of the Branch. Past experience suggests that, providing a superb mixture of scientific, social and business activities, next spring’s events should not be missed. You will see on page 1 of this Newsletter that a change of venue is to be made for the 2007 Meeting. We will still however meet, as usual, alongside BSAS.
ProgrammeFollowing a similar pattern to last year, the meeting will commence at coffee
time on Tuesday 3 April. We expect to have all the original communications
presented on the first day and to include one invited speaker. The 2006 Gordon
Memorial Lecture will take place at 5pm, when Prof Kirk Klasing of the University
of California, who was unable to attend in 2005, will discuss “The
care and feeding of the immune system of poultry” and this will
be followed by the Gordon Memorial Reception.
The Branch Annual Dinner will be at 8.15pm and will, this year, be held in
our Conference Hotel.
On Wednesday morning we will meet with BSAS for a joint session at the Floral
Hall and Conference Centre entitled “New methods to control Avian
Influenza”. Breaking with tradition this will be followed by the
Branch Annual Meeting at 11.15am before we leave for home.
Full details will be included in the Programme and Application Form, which
will be sent to all members early next year.
Papers and Posters
Members are now invited to submit papers and/or posters for consideration
by the Programme Committee. These may be on
any topic relating to poultry science. Details for submission of papers and
posters and the
preparation of abstracts appear on the following pages of this Newsletter.
These are also shown in full on the Branch website www.wpsa-uk.com.

PSA UK Branch Annual General Meeting
The Branch AGM will be held at 11.15am on Wednesday 4 April 2007 in the Floral Hall Complex (full details to be sent to all members with their Spring 2007 Newsletter).
We would encourage all members to come along and contribute to the way in which the Branch is run. This year will see elections for a Branch Treasurer/Assistant Secretary and also one Member of Council. Dr Kelvin McCracken has served for one term of four years as Branch Treasurer and is eligible for re-election for a further four years, having indicated his willingness to stand. Also Dr Paul Rose retires from Council and it is therefore necessary to elect one new member of Council. At the same time he is retiring from the position of Chairman of the Programme Committee, having been responsible for the organization of the last NINE Annual Meetings. The Branch owes him a huge debt of gratitude for all the work that he has done to make these meetings successful. Details of the existing Council and the procedure for elections is set out on page 4 of this Newsletter.
