Autumn 2006 Newsletter : Branch Annual Meeting on the move

After thirteen years in Yorkshire, seven of them at The Spa Complex in Scarborough and the last six at the University of York, the 2007 UK Branch Annual Meeting will be moving across the Pennines to Southport on the west coast of England. This will be a trial year after which a decision will be made on the location for 2008 and beyond. This offers the opportunity to move from the sometimes criticized, and no longer cheap, university type accommodation to hotel standard rooms, while retaining the large venue approach for the main meetings.

The BSAS Meeting will take place at The Southport Floral Halls and Conference Centre close to the seafront, where we will join them for the joint sessions. However, because of some redevelopment work at the Complex, the WPSA Annual Meeting will, for this year, be held at the nearby Royal Clifton Hotel which will provide all our accommodation needs and also be the venue for the Annual Dinner. For those who require cheaper rooms there is a host of hotels and guest houses in the immediate vicinity.

Please make a note of this important date, support your hard worked Programme Committee by attending the always worthwhile meeting and, above all, let us have your views on the new arrangements.
