Autumn 2002 Newsletter : WPSA UK Branch Annual Meeting
25-26 March 2003
The Annual Meeting and AGM are important events in the life of the Association. Past experience suggests that, providing a superb mixture of scientific, social and business activities, next springs events should really not be missed.
Return to the University of York
After two successful years on the attractive and convenient campus of the University
of York, the 2003 Annual Meeting will be held here once again, alongside
that of BSAS. Easy access by road and rail from most parts of the country
makes this an excellent choice of venue. The extensive modern facilities
offer the opportunity for a highly integrated event with the major benefit
of everybody being on one site. Having both excellent conference facilities
and good quality accommodation, York offers sufficient space for WPSA and
BSAS to meet both together and separately over the two days and one night
of the Meeting
Programme
The programme will show a change of emphasis this year, the mini-symposium
being replaced by four keynote speakers, each a leader in his field and each
introducing one of the four main Conference sessions. These sessions will
deal with four relevant and important poultry science topics. The Tuesday
afternoon session will be followed, as usual, at 5pm by the Robert Fraser
Gordon Memorial Lecture and Reception which precedes the Branch Annual Dinner
in the evening. This years Gordon Memorial Lecturer will be Professor
Grahame Bulfield, Director of Roslin Institute, whose topic will be announced
later.
Papers and Posters
Members are now invited to submit papers and/or posters for
consideration by the Programme Committee. These may be on any topic relating
to poultry science. Details for submission of papers and posters, the preparation
of abstracts, and an example paper, appear here.
The deadline for submission
of papers and posters is 30th November 2002 |
WPSA UK Branch Annual General Meeting
The Branch AGM will be held at approx 9am on Wednesday 26 March 2003. I know
that this is a bit early for some people, but I would encourage all members
to come along and contribute to the way in which your Branch is run. This
year we need to elect a new Treasurer, as Dr Paul Hocking has moved on to
fill the post of President, and two new members of Council to replace Prof
Geoff Mead, who has reached the end of his term of office, and one other
vacancy. This Newsletter provides an opportunity for us to thank them for
their hard work on our behalf over the years. Details of the existing Council
and the procedure for elections is set out below.
