Membership
A number of recent initiatives to increase membership of our Branch seem to have fallen on deaf ears. The New Member packs, which were available at the Annual Conference in April, resulted in just one new member, while the offer of a free tie to any member successfully recruiting another, has had no response whatsoever! This is truly disappointing and I do believe that, hard as times may be, we all need to think long and hard about the future of the Branch. It has been, and still continues to be a lively forum for UK poultry scientists and other allied personnel, offering a successful Annual Conference, Newsletters, Symposia and, of course, the Worlds Poultry Science Journal.
Come on now, why not persuade a friend or colleague to join?
We are, however, delighted to welcome three new student members who have joined the Branch since our last Newsletter:
- Mr Christopher Nile, University of Newcastle upon Tyne
- Mr Wiwaha Sumadja, University of Nottingham
- Mr Christopher x, SAC Auchincruive

The attention of members is drawn to the following advertisement, which details the availability of the proceedings of a number of Poultry Science Symposia including special discounts on some of the older volumes.

Worlds Poultry Science Journal
The Secretary has a few copies of recent Journals for disposal, thanks to a retired member. These run from Vol 50 No 1 (1994) to Vol 57 No 1 (2001), excluding Vol 56 No 4 (Dec 2000) but including the Spring 1996 Membership Directory. These are free to a good home - contact the Branch Secretary. At the same time, the Secretary would like to complete his own set of WPSJs, in particular the following: All Vols 1 - 17 (1945 - 1961), Vol 21 No 4 (1965), Vol 25 No 4 (1969), Vol 26 Nos 2 & 3 (1970), Vol 33 Nos1,2 & 3 ((1977) and all Vols 37 - 47 (1981 - 1991). Reasonable price if required and postage paid.
