Deaths
It is with sadness that we report the deaths of two long-standing members:
- Norrie Semple - immediate past WPSA UK Branch Treasurer, to whom a tribute appears at the top of this Newsletter.
- Michael Dawes - well known poultry journalist, best remembered as Editor of Poultry Farmer and Packer.

Following an offer from Roslin Institute for a WPSA UK Internet Website, Richard Hunter has kindly volunteered to commence work on this. It is intended that this will contain details of WPSA and Branch Membership, Council and Annual Meetings and Symposia and Careers Information, together with links to other relevant Websites. Ideas for other items for inclusion are welcome and can be sent to the Secretary or direct to Richard at Roslin (webmaster@wpsa-uk.com).
WPSA Working Group 10 - Turkeys
A meeting of this Working Group will be held in Berlin on 24/25 November 2000. Papers have been requested on the current production situation in Europe, problems related to turkey production with special reference to nutrition, animal welfare and consumer protection, and future approaches. The UK Branch does not currently have a member on this WG. If anyone out there is interested, please contact the Secretary.

Processing and Use The second edition of this book by Prof. Dr. Ir.A R El Boushy and Ass. Prof. Dr. Ir. A F B van der Poel, which includes modifications, has been announced. Including more than 800 references, the new book covers a wide field of interest in the conversion of waste into protein and energy./ While some of its proposals may not be acceptable in the UK, others such as the inclusion of vegetable, fruit and brewery waste in poultry diets, could be of relevance here.
